Charlotte Watts, from Chelsea is quite the traveller – her look today is made up of a pleated skirt and long socks from American Apparel in LA, a pink bow and a sailor top from Bodyline in Japan, and some Vans shoes from Bermuda. She has accessorised the look with a Chanel handbag, though she says she much prefers Balenciaga . The 19-year-old has dressed up for her friend's Japan-themed leaving do, choosing a “Japanese school girl look with a bit of cosplay thrown in.” The pink hair is in fact a wig – her usual hair, she reveals, is actually white blonde “with some terrible, terrible roots coming through”.

Nadia Nasro, 32, has layered up a little black vest top with a black blazer, a custom-made multi-coloured floaty top, and a furry sleeveless gilet from a market. She has teamed the multiple tops with a multi-coloured skirt from Primark, turquoise tights, and black boots from FlitFlop. Her colourful accessories include a vibrant flower hairpiece and a brown handbag, both from markets in Jaipur in India. The 32-year-old, originally from Greece but living in Finsbury Park, is a jewellery designer who has made all her own rings, including the large golden butterfly on her hand.

Kirsty McKenzie, originally from Toronto in Canada, is not shy when it comes to colour and print. Kirsty, who lives in Hackney and describes herself as a “costume-designer and artist extraordinaire,” tells us she has made everything she is wearing today, except for the platform Vans trainers. She is dressed in a pair of leopard print Spandex leggings and a relaxed leopard print dress with a “signature cat face” on the front, along with long tasselled earrings and a flower headpiece. Some of Kirsty's past creations include “stuffed tiger hats, crazy multi-coloured gowns and kimonos.” The 31-year-old is a firm believer in “more is more” when it comes to “power-clashing”.

James Adams, 26, a drummer in a band, has gone for a laid-back look as he gets ready to play a gig at The Purple Turtle in Camden Town. Originally from London but living in Manchester at the moment, James said he found his floppy brown hat on a coach on the way up North. He has teamed it with a pair of Clarks shoes, some women's skinny jeans from Primark, a denim shirt from H&M and a vintage bag which was a Christmas present from his brother. When it comes to clothes, James said: “I think it's more about how you wear it than what you wear”.

Ali Peeletier, who is from a rural town in Montana in the USA, is visiting friends in London. The 23-year-old dancer, who does everything from burlesque to go-go, is wearing huge platform boots that were a gift, which she says are surprisingly comfortable, along with black shorts, a crop top and a sheer dress on top, all from a second-hand store called Ross in America. She has layered some black velvet tights with turquoise fishnets from Target to brighten things up. Ali, who describes herself as a goth, said: “I always go to Camden when I come here. I live in an utterly boring part of the States where you don't really find things like you can here. Or frankly anywhere else in the world.”

Chris Jones, 19, is wearing a mesh jersey with a star logo over a black leather-sleeved jumper from Topman, with a pair of skinny jeans from Primark, a pair off Huf socks from Size.com, some black Nike Air Max trainers and a bag from H&M. Currently working in a supermarket, and making hip-hop music on the side, he has added to his street-inspired style with a backwards cap from and a chunky chain from Topman. The 19-year-old, who just moved to London from Dover, said: “The one thing I love here is the fashion, you can get away with anything. It is so easy to put your own thought into things and be creative.”
